How to get to Rangitoto Island
The easiest way to get to Rangitoto is by catching the Rangitoto Ferry from either Downtown Auckland or Devonport ferry terminals. Ferries depart regularly throughout the day. The crossing from Auckland downtown takes approximately 30 minutes. However there are other options like Sea Shuttles, personal watercraft and Kayaking tours.

Wharfs are available for drop off and pickup only.
However the Department of Conservation island biosecurity rules apply. Small animals, ants, rainbow skinks and weeds or exotic seeds are the biggest threats to the pest-free status of our special islands. Gear that has been in the garage or even stored in the house could be hiding rodents, skinks, insects and seeds.
It is important to note that there are no shops on Rangitoto Island and no drinking water. Also there are no public rubbish bins on Rangitoto or Motutapu. You must take all your rubbish with you when you leave.
